Digital leaders are enthusiastic pupils appointed as monitors for technology use within schools. Selected from Junior School to Post 16, they wear special badges for identification. Their role involves advocating for proper technology use, assisting teachers, and showcasing digital skills, ultimately serving as role models and enhancing the impact of ICT in the educational environment.
The Digital Leaders team participates in online safety training through the Childnet platform, acquiring essential skills for promoting safe technology use in school. Pupils can earn badges and certificates to recognise their achievements, while collaborating with other Digital Leaders across the UK. This initiative encourages positive change and fosters a safer online experience for young people.
Meeting every 2-3 weeks, the Digital Leaders team, led by the UICT and Digital Technology Coordinator, engages in activities that enhance their ICT knowledge and personal skills such as communication and organisation. This programme empowers pupils to be role models, enabling them to support their peers and influence their learning experiences through effective use of digital technology in school.
